Theatre De Kampanje

Theater de Kampanje is a special theater facility located in a unique location in a beautiful monumental building on Willemsoord, which used to serve as the Royal Navy's shipyard and maintenance yard. Glass, brick, wood and steel are the original elements found in De Kampanje. Tough and robust, like it used to be on the shipyard. De Kampanje, awarded the Arie Keppler Architecture Prize in 2016, has a large hall for 748 visitors and a City Hall for activities up to 1,700 visitors. The Kampanje is also used for congresses, events, fairs, meetings and symposia.

The theater management had been on its wish list for some time to adapt the acoustics in the foyer. People love the fact that it has actually been done with a great result. “We regularly hold satisfaction surveys”, says theater director Arjaen Kersten. ,, There is also space for comments from the guests. The acoustics in the foyer were often mentioned.” In the foyer, the sound bounces off brick, concrete and glass. This resulted in poor acoustics. ,, We spoke to several companies. But they couldn't guarantee that the solutions they proposed would work. Until we ended up at Akoesta in Oostzaan. They said, “This is the solution. We're sure it works.” From now on, it is pleasant to stay in the foyer before, between and after the performance.
